HIM-108 Electronic Health Records
A comprehensive review of the common components of the electronic health record and the responsibilities of health information management professionals to protect the privacy and integrity of a patient's records. It covers laws and regulations impacting the management of records, as well as the influence of government and third-party payers on the policy and practices related to medical records. This course will cover the individual components of the record, the importance of maintaining accurate and valid records, the process of amending records, and preventing healthcare fraud. Emphasis will be on the importance of data collection from electronic health records and how that data is collected, stored and retrieved in the field of informatics.
