HSP-109 Bar & Beverage Management

An introduction and identification of various types of beverages, their origin, production, and availability. The course will also examine the controls and procedures involved in operating a beverage outlet. Emphasis on strategies and systems for controlling beverage costs, types of beverage service, purchasing, pricing, storage, promotion, safety, and selling of beverages in the hospitality industry. Field trips and interacting with local restaurants will be an intregral part of this course. This course gives the student the opportunity to become certified by the National Restaurant Association in ServSafe Alcohol Service.
