HON-298K Honors: Deconstructing Whiteness in America
A multidisciplinary investigation into the construction of whiteness and what it means to be "white" in the United States. This class will examine the definition and construction of whiteness over time, why and how certain groups of immigrants became included as "white" while others were excluded, and how whiteness continues to be privileged. The class will also interrogate the various myths surrounding whiteness and, in doing so, will explore the importance of whiteness in US race relations.
