COM-108 Introduction to Communication & Mass Media
A survey and critical analysis of the mass media, including newspapers, news shows, television, digital sources, advertising, film, recorded music, and audience reactions to the framing of messages. With an emphasis on oral presentation, students consider the role of facts, opinion, cultural trends, public relations, the power of persuasion and the function of emotion and perception in media operation through an examination of the history, influences and ethics of mass media in the digital age.
