Technology Requirements Policy
Berkshire Community College and the nursing program value inclusion and equal access to its programs and activities. The nursing program creates learning environments that are usable, equitable, inclusive, and welcoming. This includes the use of technology for the program.
Students entering into nursing programs will be using various means of technology as part of their education. The technology used may include, but not be limited to, internet access, hardware, software, or applications, browsers, virus protection, student identification verification technology, and memory or storage capacity.
As part of the nursing program at BCC, students are required to carry a portable technology device to use during the nursing programs, including during class, simulation lab, and some clinical time. Students entering will receive information regarding the technological requirements for the nursing program. BCC takes no responsibility for student’s electronic devices, including but not limited to, technology, hardware, and software, etc.
Students will also rely heavily on Moodle, BCC’s online learning platform, for classwork, simulation, assignments, and online computer tests. Students are expected to be prepared for class, and ensure their own technology is ready for use by following these guidelines:
- Battery should be fully charged before all class and simulation labs and have enough life to last the day. Your computer device should be in good working order at all times.
- All computer users should take care in what is installed and stored on your computer during the nursing program to avoid running out of storage or otherwise negatively impacting performance.
- Please note: if your device is not updated, charged, and is non-functioning on a scheduled exam day, you will not be allotted additional time to complete the exam.
Specific requirements will be noted in the syllabus for each class. If students need help with finances regarding technological requirements, Berkshire Community College offers financial assistance to access.
