Associate in Arts
The Fine Arts Program offers a dynamic and comprehensive education designed to cultivate creativity, technical skills, and critical thinking. This program provides students with the opportunity to explore their artistic passions through specialized pathways in Visual Arts, Music, and Theatre, as well as an Open Interdisciplinary Pathway for those interested in a broader artistic experience.
Pathways
Visual Arts:
This pathway focuses on developing students’ skills in various visual media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital arts. Students will learn fundamental techniques, art history, and contemporary practices, preparing them for transfer or careers in fine arts, graphic design, and more.
Music:
The Music pathway offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes performance, theory, and music history. Students can specialize in instrumental or vocal performance, composition, or music education, gaining the skills needed for professional careers or further academic study.
Theatre:
This pathway immerses students in the world of theatre, covering acting, directing, stage design, and production. Students will participate in live performances and gain hands-on experience in all aspects of theatre production.
Open Interdisciplinary Pathway:
This pathway allows students to gain skills, exposure, and experience in music, theatre, and visual arts in order to apply their learning across multiple mediums. Students will be able to choose courses among the three discipline-specific pathways to build their artistic and creative skills in a variety of fine and performing arts mediums that foster expression.
Expected Outcomes
- Creative Expression: Students will demonstrate the ability to express themselves creatively through various artistic mediums, such as visual arts, music, and theatre.
- Technical Proficiency: Graduates will acquire and apply technical skills relevant to their chosen artistic discipline, such as drawing techniques, musical performance, or stagecraft.
- Critical Analysis: Students will develop the ability to critically analyze and interpret artistic works, understanding their historical, cultural, and social contexts.
- Collaboration: Graduates will effectively collaborate with peers and professionals in the creation and production of artistic projects, showcasing teamwork and communication skills.
- Professional Preparedness: Students will be prepared for careers in the arts or further academic study, equipped with a portfolio or performance repertoire that demonstrates their skills and accomplishments.
- Cultural Awareness: Graduates will gain an appreciation for diverse artistic traditions and practices, fostering a global perspective on the arts.
